About the organization
The mission
of the Technology in Education Partnership of Western Massachusetts
is to plan, implement and sustain the development of integrated
multimedia technologies and electronic information resources in order
to promote successful teaching and learning in the
pre-elementary, elementary, secondary and post-secondary education
institutions of western Mass.
Spearheaded by public education organizations TEP encourages
institutional cooperation to ensure equal
access to technological resources for rural Massachusetts. Partnering
organizations share technology infrastructure, electronic information
access, and cooperate in the provision of professional development
training and technical support to education workers to assist them
in their use of electronic and multimedia technologies.
TEP was formed in 1997 by Greenfield Community College and the
school districts of Franklin County. In 1999, the partnership was
expanded to include schools outside of the County. TEP resources have
been used to provide a legally-approved Acceptable Use Policy for its
members as well as for bulk purchases of an assortment of software that
is used by many of our members. For the past several
years, using the resources provided by three DOE grants, TEP has been in
the forefront of adopting data warehouse technologies to provide the
necessary data and tools to encourage data-driven decision-making in our
schools.
