CRISTAL - CLEAR

Project Summary

The title for the project being proposed is CRISTAL CLEAR. CRISTAL stands for Cooperative Regional Storage for Teaching and Learning and CLEAR for Collaborative Leadership for Education, Assessment and Report writing. This project is designed to build upon the successes of the CRISTAL and the CRISTAL LITE (Leaders Integrating Technology in Education) completed in 2007. There are 14 western Massachusetts school districts collaborating on this project. The overall goal of the project is using data to understand and develop strategies to address achievement gaps in at-risk populations in the partner schools and to make informed decisions on how to improve student performance for all students. The partnership districts feel that they are in a better position, having been part of pilots of the DW project, to sustain the local initiatives by knowing what resources, including professional development, are needed as they transition from traditional data analysis tools like TestWiz to the DW reporting structure. The effort to accomplish this goal encompasses five major objectives: to continue(1) Creation of the climate within schools that uses data effectively in our practice as teachers and administrators, (2) Implement the Educational Data Warehouse Project which creates easy access for decision-makers and eases capacity constraints caused by reporting requirements, (3) Build a robust culture that uses the shared understanding of the research and research-based practices that pertain in particular to high-need students, (4) Provide support and professional development for data users at all levels, and (5) Provide a central report writer to create reports using the Report Studio and other DW tools to analyze and interpret local data.
